Thankful Thursday

For those of you who are new to the program, Thankful Thursday is a post I (try to) post every Thursday reflecting on the past week and the things that I am thankful for.

Hair Cuts
I have enjoyed my new haircut so much this week. People don't even recognize me. HEE HEE. It has given me a new sense of confidence and self worth. I forgot what a new look can do for a girl. I have had so many compliments on the new cut. I am so glad that I did it.

Naps
Oh yes. I have had to take quite a few the last week or so. I have been just pooped! I have been getting up almost an hour earlier than normal because it seems like a fight in the morning to get the bathroom. Since I have to share the bathroom with 2 boys now (and the latest edition takes just as long as I do in the powder room in the morning)... I have to forgo an hour of (much needed might I add) beauty sleep to get my turn to take a shower. So anyway... I have been snoozing on my lunch breaks and in between the day and night jobs. I love naps!

My Braces
When I was young, I always wanted braces. I thought it was something that made you a "cool" teenager. Oh brother. Now that I have them... I want to rip them off everyday of my life. But, I am so happy with the results I have had so far. I never imagined that my teeth would ever be as straight as they are right now... and I am only half way through the process. Sure, I had to have a root canal because of them and I had to have some oral surgery in the beginning! But it will all be worth it in the end. Harrison looks at my teeth a few times a week and he is always like "Dang!" He can't believe how straight they are either. It makes me feel good when he gets excited about them.

Nice Neighbors
I see our next door neighboor once or twice a day. His name is Gordon and he owns the Pawn Shop next door. He is such a nice man. He always says hello to me when I walk by and he is outside working on his (beautiful might I add) lawn and garden. Yesterday he told me that he really liked my new haircut. We chatted for a few minutes outside the shop on my way home from work. He is just a nice guy. We need more nice guys in the world, don't you think?

An Awesome Find in Provo

I was so excited to finally visit The Coal Umbrella (click here for website) here in downtown Provo. What a fun place! There were handmade jewelry, journals, vintage paper packs (my favorite), and hand picked vintage clothing. The little boutique has an indie feel to it. They also have vinyl records from indie artists. I suggest everybody check it out. I really think there is something for everybody!

One of the coolest parts of the whole place was their selection of vintage t-shirts. I was told by the cute girl there that the Montana shirts (there are a plethora of designs) are "dead stock". They were purchased from a guy who had a souvenir shop in Montana and it went out of business in the 80's. He kept all of his inventory and the boutique bought the stock. So, the shirts are brand new with the original tags and such. They are awesome.

So yeah, that is my fun find for the week. I can't wait to take Harrison! I think he will LOVE it!

I WILL Go Chuck Norris on you!

So, I took this quiz. And I am NOT surprised at my score. I did teach preschool for 5 years people! Anyway. It was a fun way to pass 2 minutes!

Before and After

Well folks, here it is! The new haircut. It is so freaking cute! I also have the new glasses on! What a new woman I am!

BEFORE

AFTER

Shuffle, Step, Shuffle, Shuffle, Step!

Well, this tag isn't a bad way to pass the time until Harrison gets home from work. I like tags (but don't tell anybody).

Anyway, here's how this one works:

1. Put Your iTunes/music player/cd player/radio on shuffle.
2. For each question, press the next button to get your answer.
3. YOU MUST WRITE THAT SONG NAME DOWN NO MATTER WHAT!!! After you've answered all of the questions, tag three other people to do the tag themselves!

IF SOMEONE SAYS "IS THIS OKAY" YOU SAY?
Fear of the Dark- Iron Maiden
(Yes, you heard me!)

WHAT WOULD BEST DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONALITY?
Forever and Ever, Amen- Randy Travis
(Alright.. at least you know I will be consistent FOREVER)

WHAT DO YOU LIKE IN A GUY/GIRL?
Flowin Prose- Beastie Boys
(Uh huh!)

HOW DO YOU FEEL TODAY?
Girl- The Beatles
(Well I would hope so)

WHAT IS YOUR LIFE'S PURPOSE?
Wind of Change- Scorpions
(Get it... yeah)

WHAT IS YOUR MOTTO?
Emperor Tomato Ketchup- Stereolab
(Yes, I scream this all the time just to remind myself)

WHAT DO YOUR FRIENDS THINK OF YOU?
People are People- Depeche Mode
(So basically my friends are indifferent towards me... great)

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF YOUR PARENTS?
The Hardest Part- Coldplay
(Yes, you can argue this point. Take my teenage years for example... oh yes)

WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT FREQUENTLY?
She's Leaving Home- The Beatles
(Sure. All the time. HA)

WHAT IS 2+2?
Black Math- The White Stripes
(This is no joke people! It is what I got. Strange! Everybody's blog that has this tag so far has something to do with numbers or math for this question. CREEPY)

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF YOUR BEST FRIEND?
Morning Bell- Radiohead
(Actually yes! Harrison's alarm clock is the first thing I hear.)

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE PERSON YOU LIKE?
Kid A- Radiohead
(Well, it could be worse. At least I think he is A and not B)

WHAT IS YOUR LIFE STORY?
Everybody Wants to Rule the World- Tears for Fears
(Yes, it is hard to get ahead in life! That is the point of this one)

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GROW UP?
High and Dry- Radiohead
(maybe not)

WHAT DO YOU THINK WHEN YOU SEE THE PERSON YOU LIKE?
Jokerman- Bob Dylan

(Yes, this is true)

WHAT DO YOUR PARENTS THINK OF YOU?
The Scientist- Coldplay
(I think they have it all wrong)

WHAT WILL YOU DANCE TO AT YOUR WEDDING?

WHAT WILL THEY PLAY AT YOUR FUNERAL?
Elephant Woman- Blonde Redhead
(Um, I hope not. But maybe)

WHAT IS YOUR HOBBY/INTEREST?

(So there you go)

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST SECRET?
Where Are My Panties- Outkast
(And the world may never know)

(No, I don't think you are dull and boring... I promise)

Well that was fun. I now tag:

Off With Her Head... I mean... HAIR!!

Yes, you heard correctly. I chopped off all of my hair this afternoon. Oh, and I am also a blond for the first time in about 7 years. I tried to take some "self" pictures, but they look like crap. So, I will have Harrison take some when he gets home. The hair is SO freaking cute! Think... Victoria Beckham! Oh yes... I have gone Posh Spice on 'yall! Here is a sample of what it looks like...

Thankful Thursday

Another edition of Thankful Thursday. I can't believe the week has zoomed by so quickly. It is incredible. It just seems like I posted my last Thankful Thursday just a couple of days ago. WEIRD.

2 News Morning Team

Yes, I am thankful for the morning news. This news team is my FAVORITE! I love them. They are so funny! I watch 2 News This Morning every morning while I get ready for work. I am obsessed with it! I feel like I am only half ready for the day if I leave the house and I have not watched it! I feel like I stay very informed with current events while watching this station. There are other stations here in Utah that are SO one sided (eh hem... KSL...) and I can't stand that. I feel like my CBS news channel stays non bias! I love it!

Oxy Clean

Oh yes! This stuff is amazing! I borrowed a table cloth for the bridal shower last week from a dear friend of mine. It is one of her favorite table cloths... EVER! Well, when the shower was over and I got all the goods home, I realized that the table cloth (that came from Rachel Ashwell's Simply Shabby Chic collection... LOVE IT) had a big purple stain on it! WHAT THE CRAP? It looked as if a big raspberry had leaked it's juices all over the cloth. I Spray-N-Wash'd it and tried to hand wash it. IT DIDN'T COME OUT! I started having a "secret cow" (when you totally freak out on the inside but haven't quite let everybody else know on the outside). Well, I got out the ol' bucket of Oxy Clean and dissolved about 2 scoopfuls into a bucket of water and let the table cloth soak in there for about 2 days. GOOD AS NEW! The stain is completely gone with no trace to be seen! YaHoo!

Drive Thru Gas Station

I pretty much visit the neighborhood CREST station at least once or twice a week for my fix of Cherry Coke. Yum! The best part of it is... they have a DRIVE THRU window. Genius I tell you! I just pull up... let them know what I want (anything in the store by the way... Doritos, Hostess cupcakes, whatever tickles my fancy that day)... and then when I pull to the window... WHALAH! My order is ready without me even unbuckling my seat belt. It is great! Thank Heavens for that!

Maybe It's Time to Take a Break...

from reading Harry Potter. I have been having dreams that these three people are my best friends and I am on a mission to find Voldemort's horcruxes. Oh man. Well, they are pleasant people nonetheless and they are very helpful!

Grand and Glorious Cupcakes

I thought we might have had pictures of my lovely table spread at the shower, but this seems to be the only one that was taken. Ah well. I was so proud of these cupcakes. These are the lonely ones that were left over after the shower. I was able to make the icing the same color as the teal on the invitations (I should post a picture of the invitations... they were so freaking cute). They were jumbled around a bit on the way to the church and so the icing is kind of smashed in places. I used this really coarse decorating sugar for sprinkles on them. They were the hit of the party. Thanks mommy for letting me use your cake decorating supplies and the cute cupcake stand (see... she has the answers for everything!).

Half of Robyn's Bridal Shower

I say half because I only have half the pictures! I ran home right before the shower started to get cleaned up and grab my camera. I searched the house in all of the usual places for the camera and it was nowhere to be found. Truth be told... I was pretty scared that somebody took it. When I got back to the party (15 minutes late I might add) Kay told me that Jordan had used the camera at Robyn's graduation that morning and it was probably still rolling around in his trunk. GGGGRRRR. Robyn's sisters, Melinda and Alicia, were nice enough to snap some shots for me. Here are some of them.

Hey... do you notice my BONJOUR banner in the background? Robyn got this CUTE apron!

Here is The Allen Family. We had fun!

It was so much fun to be able to meet Robyn's family. They were such great people.

Melinda is supposed to send me the rest of the photos from this fun event, including pictures of the amazing cupcakes I made. I can't believe I didn't have my camera to take pictures of my beautiful spread. Shame on you Jordan for keeping my coveted camera locked away in the trunk!

Another Long Awaited Thankful Thursday

OK, lets see. I have been trying to think about the things I have been thankful for in the last week, but I have found that I can hardly remember as far back as last weekend. Sad I know, but my life has been a whirlwind of events it seems... what with 2 jobs, a bridal shower to plan, dinner to make, the house to clean... no wonder I feel like I need a nap all of the time. All excuses aside, here it goes:

My MOM!
Yes, I am so thankful for her. I love talking to her. We talk on the phone almost every single day. I had a high school English teacher tell me that I would not appreciate good teachers or my parents for about 5 years after I graduated school. Well, she was right. It didnt take me THAT long to learn to appreciate my parents (especially my mom) but somewhere close to there. My mother is amazing. She has the answers to just about everything involving cooking, cleaning, baking, sewing, crafting, gardning, things having to do with church, and anything else I could ever ask about. I am truly blessed to have my MOMMY!!! I love you Mom!

Glitter
I know that sounds silly, but I am. I have been crafting the last little while and I find myself looking for anything to throw glitter on. It makes me so happy! I heard a comedy bit just a little while ago and the guy said that glitter is the herpes of all craft supplies. Once you get it on you be prepared to have it there... FOREVER. It does not come off. It is so true! But, I love it anyway!

Cora
Marie came by work the other day with her little girl Cora. She is so freaking cute! She is about 16 months old and so darling. She likes to sit on my lap at my desk and draw on things and click the keyboard. She also likes to eat whatever I am eating at the time. She is such a precocious little thing! She makes me laugh every time I see her.

Harrison
I was looking back on my last Thankful Thursday posts and realized that I have not once said that I am thankful for my husband. Well, I am! Honestly! Harrison is great. I am SO glad we are married. We have been able to do so many fun things in our 3 years of marriage. Sure, we have our rough spots, but what marriage doesn't? I am thankful for his sense of humor and his patience. He is so patient with me. Heaven knows I can drive anybody batty with my LONG stories and shoe addiction. He is always there to support me. I love you too Harrison!

Well, that concludes this edition of Thankful Thursday. Tune in next week for another exciting post.

Crafting Again

So, here are some pictures of my latest crafting project. LOVE IT!!!! I am making a banner to go over my UGLY fireplace mantle mirror. Well. to drape across it. The mirror is the only thing in our house that I hate, so I thought this might brighten it up a bit. Is it cute or WHAT? I will post pictures of the final masterpiece. To see where I got the inspiration from click here and click here. Freaking cute stuff. I am so happy with the way it is turning out. It was super simple to make too! I will also be using the banner at Robyn's bridal shower this Friday. I will also post pictures of that too!

God Bless Our Troops... FOR REAL!!

So, last night Harrison and I were at Gary and Amanda's house for games and gabbing. Gary was away at military training for 5 weeks, so we got together for some catching up. We started watching YouTube videos (as we always do when we are together) and here are a couple of military themed videos I just HAD to share with all of you! These have brought me HOURS of laughter!

How May I Be of Service to You?

Harrison read the blog entry from yesterday and asked why I didn't post any pictures of my wonderful photographer's assistant skills. So, here they are. My job during the 3 hour photo shoot was to come up with poses, hold the reflector (so there was good light on our patient subjects), and hold the diffuser up (so the sunlight was not blinding the subjects). So, please find below a sample of my work.

(This is me figuring out a pose)

(Here I am using the reflector)

(And... here I am using the diffuser... well sort of)

Engagement Photo Extravaganza

Last weekend Harrison and I went with Jordan and Robyn (Harrison's younger brother and his bride to be) to take their engagement photos. We went to a few locations here in Utah County including: The Riverwoods Mall, The Harley Davidson store, and The Utah State Hospital. Below are some of my favorites. Harrison is so talented. It was such a blast to go out and do this with them! Thanks for the opportunity Jordan and Robyn :-).

The New Specs Have Arrived

Harrison called me this afternoon and told me to meet him downstairs at my work. He said that he had a surprise for me. I got to the truck and there was a box sitting on the seat. It was from my optomitrist in Grand Junction, Dr. Foutz. I knew what that meant. MY NEW GLASSES HAD ARRIVED!!!

So, these are the old frames... Nicole Miller Empire frames.

And these are the new ones. BeBe EyeLiner frames in Chocolate Cherry. They are SO freaking cute! So, I will take some pictures of the new specs and post them tomorrow or something. Yippee!
