Ha Ha... You say- FUNNY THING!

So- it's no secret that I am hilarious!  Kidding.  Totally kidding.  I like to think I am funny but sometimes I think that other people think I am just corny.  But anyway... last night I had a discouraging moment.  I felt broken down and just a little sad.  Well- then I looked through my board on Pinterest (seriously if you don't have an account yet... you are missing out) that is all about funny stuff.  I pin stuff on there that is funny, humorous, funny because it's true, and sometimes a little off color.  Well- I cheered back up after seeing some of these things.  I thought I would share my amusement with you!  ENJOY!  I hope you literally LOL!

So- when life seems like it is hopeless and you feel like you are the worst person or most unloved person in the world.... look at these and remember that life is funny, sarcastic, and pretty easy if you let it be!

YOUR MOM!

Since I have been living 40 miles away from my workplace, I have to commute every morning and evening. I have become accustomed to reading the billboards on my way to and from Provo. This one caught my attention last week and I have been trying to get a photo of it without endangering the other motorists around me. I got one this morning. If you look close, the billboard says "Your mom uses billboards".



If any of you know me, you know that "Your Mom" is a phrase used by me MANY times a day. Anyway, here is the photo... YAY!

One of my worst fears... came true!

So, Harrison and I bought a small deep freezer when I moved into Nick and Joy's house so I would be able to keep all of our meat and frozen food that we bought. Well, I went out for the first time today to get some chicken nuggets out for dinner... and.... OH NO... What is that smell???

The deep freeze wasn't on. Everything in the freezer was rotted and smelled like death. I would guess that there was close to $200 worth of meat and veggies in that freezer... not to mention Harrison's grandmother's wonderful peach jam! DANG!!!

Well, I started to investigate and it turns out that the GFI outlet that the freezer was plugged into had tripped sometime in the last few weeks, but we didn't know it.

I am totally bummed. I got the freezer back on that I will let the food freeze again before emptying it. The smell is just more than I can handle. I now know what a rotting body smells like for sure. So, next week I will have to shut it down again and scrub it down and disinfect the thing.

Well, that is my life update for now... note to self... check the freezer every couple of days!

Army Wives

Ok kids,
it's drastic times again and Jaala hasn't updated in a while. Nearly a month in fact. Anyway, we have had some crazy times of late. I graduated on the 20 something of May and the Monday afterward I flew to San Diego and Las Vegas for job interviews. Of course I booked my flight to Las Vegas for the wrong day and I had to pay the extra $150 to change it, but all is well that ends well. I got both jobs but decided to take the one in Vegas.

It payed fairly well and the housing affordibility is insane in Vegas (1500+ sq. feet for less than $150k). After I returned to Provo we tried to get our lives in order so that we could come to terms with living separately for the next few months. We decided to get a storage unit and call upon the hospitality of friends and family for our lodgings until we can be rejoined. For those of you with questions as to why we would do such a thing, Jaala has a very good job at NuSkin in their special events department and their global convention is this year in October. Jaala wants to stay around there until then so she can get experience, travel to LA, and MEGA overtime.
At any rate, we arranged for Jaala to stay with my brother and sister-in-law in SLC and for me to stay with Jaala's best friend's parents (confusing eh?). But with those arrangements we will be living extremely frugally and saving for a down payment for a house. The tentative plan is to hang around and apply to UNLV this Fall for their MFT program starting in 2010.

After one week at home we returned to Las Vegas for our anniversary (May 13 2005-4 years baby!). We went on the 8-10 though because hotels were more affordable. Just before we went down though I felt like the company that I was going to work for was not a very strong one, so I began looking for a new job there.

Luckily I found one and after a phone interview while on vacation I was offered another, better paying, more stable job. Ironically it is at the first place that actually gave me the idea to even apply in Vegas. A place called Eagle Quest of Nevada. I will be working with foster kids as a Rehabilitative Mental Health Specialist. Basically a liasion between the parents and the foster care system.

After one more week at home, during which Joy had her third child, we got some more stuff packed trying to enjoy the first nights I haven't worked in about 1.5 years and on Sunday I headed off to LV for good leaving my sweet wife behind. And now I am here and it is hot as hades and Jaala lives on in Provo. The job looks good and things are looking up. People keep betting that Jaala won't make it alone in Utah. But we are commited to doing this and Jaala is motivated even more by those bets. It is going to be like I am in the armed forces, but without the arms or the forces....and with more conjugal visits :)

Nick Turns 30

Nick turned 30 on Dec. 27 so we brought Mom back up with us so she could go to the party for him. The party had a Rock Band theme with one caveat: to play you had to be in costume. So there are some funny pictures of folks in wigs and leather jackets.










Fun was had by all. Most everyone who came to the party played a song or two.



There was a gorgeous spread of sandwichables, and pizza.



Joy was excited to use her new pizza cutter.

Rest In Peace: Doug

Doug you were a beautiful spirit, you brought us so much joy in the three short years of your life. You gave Dennis a companion when no one else would. You kept us all entertained. You made Jaala sneeze. You were our greeter when we would visit and though sometimes you were temperamental we knew that you had love for us deep down inside.
Heavenly Father took you too soon and we will sorely miss you. There will always be a place in our hearts for you, and we will certainly see you again.
This is a big up from all of us in the family and just remember that we will never forget you, you have left a hole but it will heal. Peace!

God Bless Our Troops... FOR REAL!!

So, last night Harrison and I were at Gary and Amanda's house for games and gabbing. Gary was away at military training for 5 weeks, so we got together for some catching up. We started watching YouTube videos (as we always do when we are together) and here are a couple of military themed videos I just HAD to share with all of you! These have brought me HOURS of laughter!
